A Collaboration in Colour

So, I finally finished my apartment expansion renovation. Zach and I were loving the space, but we needed more storage. When you live in the city, who doesn’t need beautiful and high-quality storage solutions!!

Enter Kitch – a Canadian cabinet company based in Alberta! I’d used Kitch products in the past. They offer stylish and clever cabinet door upgrades for IKEA®’s SEKTION® kitchen systems and GODMORGON® bathroom vanities so I was aware of their incredible product line. When they learned I was searching for the perfectly hued cabinet solution, we decided to partner to create a limited-edition collection of colourful and classic cabinet door colours. I can’t wait to show them all to you!

“I’ve never met a colour I didn’t like. But pastels and muted tones –
they hold a special place in my little rainbow heart.”

I know what you’re thinking – go with white cabinets Tiff. They’re neutral. They’re classic. Stick to white.  Who brainwashed everyone to think that white cabinets are the only way to go? Who said you can’t love a coloured cabinet until the end of time? Who said colour can’t be timeless?

So often in my line of work, I've noticed that telling a client to add colour to anything can feel more significant than any other design commitment they'll ever make. It’s a little crazy. I’ve educated many a client on how to start working colour into their home and life.

Lesson #1 CHOOSE WHAT YOU LOVE. To heck with trends. Look in your closet, at your artwork and reflect on colours that make you happy. Those are the colours you should lean into!

Lesson #2 COLOUR IS A LANGUAGE. Colour in one room speaks to the colours in the adjacent room. By building and selecting from a curated palette, anyone can make the leap to colour even if you are the staunchest supporter of a neutral palette. Let me show you how with the colours I hand selected for Kitch

Allow me to introduce you to the Kitch X Tiffany Pratt Colour Palette:

Designed to be used together or apart-these fresh colours are perfect in full combination, in two's, threes or as a single colour. They are sure to begin the colourful domino effect in your home. Start small with a front hall organizational unit or go big with a full-sized living room console. Whatever your needs--reconsider what you might have considered safe and this time choose what you LOVE. Try them in combination with a neutral or a shade of white or just go for it. But the most important thing is to go for it.

“A tranquil, retro palette that calms the mind and invigorates the spirit. The desaturated tones add to a sophisticated, relaxed environment that will stand the test of time.”

Lesson #3 ACCESSORIZE TO ACHIEVE FULL EFFECT. Adding colour to anchor pieces like kitchen or bath cabinets is an awesome start. To help continue telling your new colour story, accessories will bring everything to life. I like to use everything from art to floral arrangements, to textiles to lighting to help weave the colour conversation through my and my client’s homes. GRAB SOME INSPIRATION FROM MY APARTMENT!

With the resurgence of happy-making colours and people embracing colours on everything from appliances to dopamine dressing – we are rediscovering that colour can truly impact our feelings and mood--what better time to bring in some soothing pastels to brighten your home and give a soft kick in the butt to the neutrals you once told yourself you loved.

Much love,
Tiffany
