Light it up! DIY: Switch plate dazzling
I am one of those people that look around a room and search for things I can mess with. That is right, if I can take it off, remove it, cover part of it with painters tape, paint it or add something to it—I WILL! We have all witnessed a switch plate dazzled someway-but my nod to trending graphic prints and my love for tissue paper squares unite here with this little inspiration. DIY-Switch plate dazzling! Tara McMullen- always up for a photo shoot and a messy good time–came and graced the glitter suite with her talent and images of this crafty activity!
All you will need is your existing switch plate covers, mod podge of any sort, a sponge brush, tissue paper of any type (I prefer the pre-cut squares or circles) and clear glitter! Clear glitter is the dazzling answer for EVERYTHING.
Slap a coat of mod podge on the switch, slap a another coat of mod podge on top of the tissue…it is really easy.
We are channelling our 1960′s decoupage vibes here- so get into it! I recommend you just rip every switch off the wall before you get started, cause once you get going you won’t wanna stop!
Now, is my favorite step: RUB THOSE BABIES IN GLITTER! These switches will glimmer like magic once the podge is dry and the clear glitter will give it this encrusted coolness. Just pour a pile of glitter on a piece of wax paper and dunk them in!!!
Then, you can add more glitter by sprinkling…..you can never add enough of this stuff. I mean it people: CLEAR GLITTER!
Wait the night, then put them back up all around the house and watch your face light up with happiness every time you turn the light OFF or ON. Try it and see……
Then….take the rest of the tissue paper squares and throw them in the air to celebrate your craftiness! GO ON! Do it!
Then…do it again…but this time grab your UMBRELLA!
Turn on the love light in your heart for a little colourful craftiness & thank you for creating! XO
