I know this sounds so cheese, but assure you it is my hearts pure desire to share this.

It is usually the dreaming that is the most epic, because making things happen is all about the journey and the ride (which can sometimes be bumpy–I get whiplash all the time). Never stop working toward and fluffing up your dreams.  Never doubt that one day they will happen.  Believe what you want to believe, even if you are the only one.  Doing your thing, sticking to your plan, being dedicated to your dream and staying on your own path will deliver you directly to your desire.  I promise.  (Dream #34,567: being in RUE magazine) It happened!

This little quick and crafty DIY is for the folks at home that love themselves the eggs. I do not know about you–but I always want the brightly coloured egg look for Easter–but eating those hard boiled eggies later makes me wonder. I love eggs too much to waste–so here I present decorating eggs in tin foil for protection and extra bling. Then, when Easter is over, you can take off the wrapping and eat.

Instant gratification is another biggie for me; too much set-up takes the joy out of creating.  Hanging with kids as much as I have, I know that decorating eggs can be a bit of a show.  My decorating style is an all-ages affair that creates one-of-a-kind designs in a Shake n’ Bake kinda way.  Check it out:

Now, you let those eggies dry!  I have a really good Easter suggestion to pass the dry time away: Eat a chocolate bunny!  By the time that bunny is done, the eggs will be dry.  Naturally, that is why chocolate bunnies were invented.  Once they are dry, grab some Easter grass/paper shred/tinsel from Christmas and adorn any kitchen vessel with the stuff—put those eggs inside & TA DA!  You have some quick and dirty Faberge looking egg decor sure to bring your guests to their knees! YOU ARE WELCOME!

All you will need for this craft is:

-Tin Foil / Eggs/ small bag of any kind/candy sprinkles from your cupboard/glitter/confetti/sequins/Mod Podge

I swear THIS IS the most fun you will  ever have decorating eggs, and you will ALWAYS Shake n’ Bake your Easter decor afterward.

As my final throw to Spring, I grabbed some pink powder paint and rocked my own Holi right there and then.

*For those of you that know me…trolling the internet is not a regular thing- but it was love.

In her work, I kept stumbling–like falling in love–you fall a few times before you can catch your breath and post your thoughts.

These bracelets–I gasped! You can get them on ETSY—they are everything that I stand for. Re-used costume bling on hippy threads. I ask myself if I need another bracelet?….but I might have to make an exception.

A NEW YEAR is before us and I cannot help but think of renewal, cleansing and change. This year, I welcome a newer, brighter and even clearer self with a playful bath-tism. It is time to initiate yourself into a New Year of light and colour, it is time to prepare and purify your heart for all the excitement and change.  Submerge yourself in colour, glitter and play.  This is going to be  your year! Dive in!

I love epsom salt baths, I am also a big bath bomb and colour therapy bath advocate.  I also love the idea of using way too much shaving cream (because I can) food colouring and glitter by the jar (all pictured).  I come out renewed and feeling ready for the next big adventure.

Life is what you do everyday.  Your year is comprised of all of those moments.  Your year in review is a snap shot of all of the private and personal heart parties you threw all year long.  Throw a party tonight.  In your heart, private or public….hit the dance floor, pop the Veuve, burn away the year with love and take a bath-tism and start 2013 with all you’ve got. I send you my LOVE!

I want to make more custom/crafty backdrops for photo shoots.  This long white paper was hanging out at the Glitter Suite, where I water-coloured it in shades of pink (surprise!) and gold.  Once it dried, I cut eyelash-like strips into each piece of painted paper and rolled them.  Arriving at Tara McMullen’s photography studio, I began taping them all over the wall in a massive collection…..

I had no idea what magic would occur….

I have been coveting these paper eyelashes for quite sometime.  Being a maker of things, I feel like I wear my art all the time.  Have it be left over glue or paint from a project—-I figured paper eyelashes would be quite fitting for me.

Then, BAM!  Like a shot of light–enter: IVY LAM (make-up artist supreme)

This whim of mine came together in one rose-coloured sweep.  It would be a coloured story of 50 shades of pink (no pun intended) where paper was my muse and used for everything.  Tara and Ivy the super heros in this tale, bringing it all to life……

I feel the highest  amount of love and gratitude to Tara and Ivy.  Tara, with her light, talent, time and for appeasing my whims. Ivy for her time and genius taping me into this paper dress, rocking my make-up and hair….

These ladies show up for their craft, as do I.  I feel comforted and awed to be in such company…the 3 of us just playing…with paper!

PAPER.  Paper lashes.  Paper tape dress.  Paper backdrop.  PAPER.

My inspiration from an everyday thing, using what I have– and adding a little dash of whimsy to make the everyday–wonder-filled. XO

I am getting used to the butterflies in my stomach when Alex asks me to style a shoot for her.  It feels like someone is saying to me, “Hey, I own a chocolate factory, would you like to come in and eat sometime?” All Alex needed to say to me was Christmas Tree farm- engagement shoot.  She had me at HELLO.

Visions of DIY ornaments, twinkle lights, white feathers and deep red danced in my head.

This is the part where she just lets go of the leash and lets me run.  She knows I will come back with something…..

Here, we find ourselves at the Glitter Suite, glittering balls, cutting up feather boas and mixing them up with fake snow and glitter.  Glitter-shake-and-baking pine cones…..we are almost there. Wild Eyed, meets wild crafter….

Enter stage left, Caitlin and Jason.  Two people who give me goose bumps just typing their names. Real love.  Authentic. Every laugh, every cuddle—totally REAL.  BAM!  We have a magic laced engagement shoot that filled my soul.  Ice that cake with the fact that STYLE ME PRETTY is featuring it on December 26th, 2012…..and now I have reached a stylists nirvana.

Jar party

My inspiration: Tara McMullen.  After a long few weeks without my dear Tara, I met her for breakie with a jar filled with tinsel and mini plastic dinosaurs (her favorite little thing).  *She lost her bloody mind*  Right there, over her eggs…all she could talk about, stare at, was this magic little gesture of love. I was onto something!!  A week later we were shooting this Holiday inspired moment at the Glitter Suite. Jar Parties!!! Reusable, whimsical, personal and totally sparkly!  Easy to make up a quick dozen, filled with your favorite little things and sure to bring delight to any occasion.  Rule #1 during the glitter season: never show up empty handed!  It can be daunting during this time to keep running out for the perfect thing to *bring*.  Your jar party is the solution.  Everything is cheaper when you buy a dozen and anything is easy to make in bundles!

I love this idea.  It is so easy, fun to make and fast to grab and give! Be prepared with something magical this season with this little morsel at the ready.  You can pick your own fillers and dazzlers—I just love my hot pink & pom pom vibe!  Customize and GO!  HUGE love and extreme thanks always to the super love of mine, Tara McMullen, who took the time and the pictures for this beauty-full DIY.  XO
